North America first got the privilege of first getting introduced the compact car, Ford Focus in the model year 1999 as 2000. Now in Asia, Africa, Australia and in South America the compact model is marketed.
Ford Focus models for the first generation were Wagon, hatchback and in sedan forms. Many models of Ford like Ford Coutour, Ford Escort and Mercury Mystique were replaced by the Ford Focus. Handling capability, cargo room, control layout and fuel economy rates were the key features of the first generation Ford Focus model and the drawbacks being the engine noise, rear seat entry/exit and acceleration. Ford Focus has very good exterior dimensions of, the wheel base of 103.0 inches, length of 168.1 inches, width of 66.9 inches and height of 56.3 inches and the capacity stretches up to 5-passengers.

Second Generation (2008-Present)
2009 Ford Focus gained more attention with powerful engine, few other features and with slight redesigning. Complete redesigning is done for the interiors. The standard engine to the model is 2.0 liter DOHC I-6 version comes with either 5-speed manual or to 4-speed automatic transmission. The latest redesigned 2012 model of Ford Focus uses front and side airbags that are designed to deploy as per the force applied to the seat occupant. Ford expects that the chances of people being injured will reduce due to the deployment of the airbags which acts according to the force applied. 2012 Focus which is about to go on sale will be the first most Ford vehicle to use the latest technology airbags.
All the other Ford lineup cars may come up with the new airbag technologies.
Three techniques are used in the new airbags:
The driver front airbag contains a tether that limits the expansion of the lower part of the airbag with which the force on driver’s chest and ribs will reduce.
In the passenger front airbags, extra pressure vents also can be opened in the based on the pressure determination by the data from the seat position and weight sensors. Smaller occupants can be protected by the extra vents that reduce the deployment pressures.
-- Vents towards the top are present for the side-impact airbags. Vents remain uncovered by the smaller seat occupants and will reduce the airbag pressure. On the other hand a larger-bodied occupant covers the vents, leaving the bag maintain higher pressure.
Customers! Wait for the safest technology – Ford Focus!!!!!
