Nowadays no one can trust on any automobile brand. One by one every major brand is showing some kind of irresponsibility. Few days earlier, Toyota had rocked the world with its faulty acceleration system and now it is Honda faulty Ignition system problem. One of the biggest Japanese automaker, Honda had announced the recall of 427,000 vehicles in United States and Canada. Earlier this year, another biggest Japanese automaker, Toyota had announced the recall of more than 8 million vehicles in United States and Canada when fault in acceleration control system was detected. There was no counting that how many customers had faced problem due to this fault. And now, Honda is also showing same kind of irresponsibility when fault in the ignition system was detected.
According to the sources, due to the faulty ignition system in Honda vehicles the key can be removed without the transmission being shifted to park. This is not a minor fault and it can lead to dangerous accidents with people. According to Honda, if the ignition devices become damaged or worn over time, it may become possible for the ignition key to be removed when the transmission is not in the park position. While saying this Honda never realized that if this is going to occur then the vehicle could unexpectedly roll away and can get crash with other vehicles. Both Honda and Toyota makes luxury segment vehicles which cost fortune to people to buy. After paying such a large payment if a customer is getting such response then it is worthless to spend behind brand.
Another surprising thing, this fault is mostly detected in Accord and Civic passenger cars. Both of these are higher segment vehicles and cost a lot to buy. Now no one can say that this is Honda and Toyota and extra amount can be paid for brand because brand represents the quality. The recall is expected to begin either during September or October month. Around 198,000 Accord 117,000 Civic have been recalled. There are some more models but they are not in large number such as Element and Acura.
Similar like Toyota, this is not the first case for Honda also. Honda had a history of recalling vehicles for replacement of parts. Last week, Honda had recalled 585 Element vehicles in United States for changing automatic transmission shift cable. Earlier than this, in 2003 around 564,000 vehicles were recalled for the same faulty ignition problem.
I think it’s the time to start buying aftermarket car parts and accessories at nominal rate rather than buying such branded parts and accessories at sky rocketing price and with defective parts also.
